COLAB, a new design warehouse at Syracuse University, hired the talents at Studio Mercury to create a documentary for their recent brain drain event. Targeting the potential of social media, the event involved industry professionals and students across disciplines to re-consider how education, business and the society at large could function more effectively in the near future.

The bulk of the short documentary addresses the collaboration, diversity, and ideas that came out of the event. However, to truly connect the short to the spirit of social networking, Studio Mercury also extracted more in-depth interview segments with the events various participants. Utilizing the annotative function of YouTube, the main short documentary is networked to these interviews. This structure provides the event with multiple layers of backstory.

The main teaser documentary of Social Media Futures can be experienced here.
